César Beauvais retires from biathlon at age 25

Belgian biathlete César Beauvais, 25, announced his immediate retirement from the sport. He had made 61 World Cup starts, competed in the IBU Cup circuit and represented Belgium at the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics. After the 2022‑23 season he set a personal deadline to decide his future, briefly resumed training, but a surfing holiday in Morocco made him realize he was continuing biathlon for the wrong reasons and had lost his motivation. He said the experience showed he could no longer give his best performance and chose to end his career.

Beauvais praised his recent seasons, describing the last winter as his best, and expressed gratitude for his time in the sport.
