César Caicedo transferred to Coiba prison

César Caicedo has been transferred back to the Coiba penitentiary following a judicial decision to revoke his hospital detention. Caicedo, who was receiving care at Hospital Santo Tomás, is a key figure in ‘Operación Nodriza’, a drug trafficking investigation led by the Drug Prosecution Office.

Authorities allege Caicedo is a leader of a criminal structure involved in smuggling drugs via vessels and concealing them in residences in Arraiján before transporting them out of the country in modified vehicles. While the prosecution pursues charges of conspiracy to traffic drugs, Caicedo’s defense has questioned the conditions of his transfer and the lack of direct communication with him during the process.
