César Ferrari resigns as Colombia's Financial Superintendent

César Ferrari has submitted his irrevocable resignation as the Superintendent of the Financial Superintendency of Colombia (SFC). Ferrari, who assumed the role in May 2023, stated he will remain in his position until the government officially accepts his decision.

His departure comes during a period of national emergency following an earthquake on August 10. Ferrari leaves behind several ongoing initiatives, including urgent measures to manage the economic impacts of the seismic event and the implementation of open finance protocols. During his tenure, he focused on structural re-engineering, regulatory simplification, and the integration of digital tools into inspection schemes.

Ferrari, an academic with a doctorate in Economics from Boston University, has also served as an advisor to the IMF for central banks in Angola and Guinea-Bissau. The government has not yet announced a successor to lead the financial regulator.
