César Lencina appointed Undersecretary of Science and Technology
The Argentine government has appointed Air Force Commodore César Óscar Lencina as the new Undersecretary of Science and Technology. The appointment was formalized through Decree 1056/2026, published in the Official Gazette, which also accepted the resignation of José Luis Acevedo.
Lencina brings a background in research and development from the Argentine Air Force. His previous roles include serving as the head of the Mar del Plata Military Air Base and the Marambio Antarctic Base. He holds a degree in Aerial and Aerospace Systems and a master's degree in International Relations.
This leadership change occurs within the Secretariat of Innovation, Science, and Technology, following recent administrative shifts including the appointment of Adriana Baravalle as Secretary. The decree specifies that Lencina's status must be adjusted in accordance with the Law for Military Personnel.
