Csepel Művek development stalls as Boncza Castle renovation begins

In Hungary, questions remain regarding the development of the former Csepel Művek factory site. Despite a 2013 strategic study by the Hungarian Urban Knowledge Center suggesting a partnership between the government, local municipalities, and private enterprises, significant progress has not materialized. During a previous election campaign, Minister Péter Szijjártó pledged that the government would work with factory leaders to create a development plan to revitalize the facility as an economic driver, but critics suggest these promises have not been fulfilled.

In Romania, renovation work has commenced on the former Boncza Castle in Ciucs, which currently houses the Octavian Goga Museum. The Cluj County Council is allocating nearly 80 million lei from EU funds for the project. The renovation will cover the museum, the Ady Endre Memorial House, associated buildings, a small chapel, and the construction of an outdoor amphitheater in the garden. Alin Tișe, the county council president, stated that restoration is expected to take 32 months, part of a broader initiative to support castle renovations in the region.
