CSG Group joins SwarmShot autonomous drone defense system development

The CSG Group, through its American ammunition division Federal Ammunition, is participating in the development of SwarmShot™, a new autonomous counter-unmanned aerial vehicle (C-UAS) system. The project is a collaborative effort involving Federal Ammunition, Mossberg & Sons, and Palladyne AI.

SwarmShot is designed as a modular system to provide a cost-effective layer of close defense against small drones, which are often too inexpensive to justify the use of traditional anti-aircraft missiles. The system integrates three core components: specialized shotgun ammunition from Federal Ammunition, a lightweight weapon module developed by Mossberg, and the IntelliSwarm™ autonomous system from Palladyne AI.

The technology enables multiple unmanned interceptors to operate as a coordinated defensive swarm. Using Palladyne AI’s SwarmOS™ software, these drones can autonomously search for, track, and neutralize enemy drones by communicating with one another to distribute targets and adjust tactics in real time.
