CSIF proposes suicide prevention protocol for local police in Valencia
The Central Sindical Independiente y de Funcionarios (CSIF) has proposed a specific anti-suicide protocol to municipal governments across the Valencian Community. The union aims to establish stable measures to protect the mental health of local police officers, arguing that mental health is an inseparable part of occupational risk prevention.
The union highlights that local police face unique stressors, including night shifts, high emotional loads, violent interventions, threats, and continuous exposure to human suffering. The proposed protocol includes phases for mental health prevention, early detection of warning signs, and the establishment of coordinated response mechanisms between municipal services to prevent self-harming behaviors.
