CSIF to sue Albacete Provincial Council over shift-work salary cuts

The Central Sindical Independiente y de Funcionarios (CSIF) is taking legal action against the Provincial Council of Albacete following a decision to modify staff cataloging rules. The union intends to challenge the changes, which were published in the Official Provincial Gazette on September 16, arguing they result in a “salary reduction” for employees working shifts.

According to CSIF, the new regulations implement a “flat rate” by unifying shift work, night shifts, and holidays into a fixed amount. The union claims this prevents staff from receiving the actual value of the shifts they perform and prohibits any other remuneration for these concepts. CSIF representatives argue that instead of protecting rights, the measure absorbs and reduces compensation for special and arduous working hours. For certain roles, such as Nursing Assistant Technicians (TCAE), the union estimates an annual loss of nearly 600 euros.
