CSIR celebrates 85 years with open laboratory days
The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) is celebrating its 85th foundation day on September 26. Established in 1942, it is one of the world’s largest and most significant publicly funded scientific and industrial research organizations.
To mark the occasion, all of CSIR’s national laboratories will be opened to the general public and students, allowing them to observe scientific research and development processes firsthand. The anniversary aims to honor the contributions of researchers and inspire youth to find scientific solutions for social development.
CSIR operates a vast network across India, including 37 national laboratories specializing in biological sciences, chemical sciences, engineering, information technology, and physical sciences. The organization’s work spans diverse fields such as genomics, biotechnology, nanotechnology, oceanography, and environmental engineering, contributing to sectors like health, agriculture, and energy.
