CSKA Sofia introduces new head coach Markus Gisdol

CSKA Sofia has officially introduced Markus Gisdol as its new head coach. During his presentation at the Bulgarian Army Stadium, the German specialist expressed his ambition to pursue titles and emphasized a philosophy influenced by Ralf Rangnick, focusing on direct football and ball possession.

To support the new coaching staff, Gisdol will work alongside assistants Rainer Widmaier and Jakob Braun, as well as Bulgarian specialists Kostadin Georgov, Georgi Petrov, and goalkeeper coach Hristo Mitov. Former head coach Hristo Yanev will remain at the club in a new role, overseeing methodology for the first team, reserves, and the youth academy.

Additionally, the club announced that the Bulgarian Army Stadium will not host European matches until the end of November due to ongoing readiness and construction timelines. Consequently, the team’s upcoming Conference League match against Monaco on October 15 will be played elsewhere, with the team continuing to use the Vasil Levski National Stadium as its home ground for the time being.
