CSKA Sofia Director Valentin Iliev criticizes refereeing

CSKA Sofia sports director Valentin Iliev has expressed dissatisfaction with officiating following the team's 2-0 victory over Ludogorets. Iliev noted that the team displayed significant character and emotional resilience during the match, which involved intense physical competition.

Addressing the officiating, Iliev criticized the frequency of yellow cards for minor contact, arguing that such decisions hinder the dynamism and aggression of Bulgarian football. He stated that the repetitive nature of these complaints is “sad and banal,” noting that it creates a public perception of bias or trends in refereeing. Iliev emphasized his desire to focus on the players rather than officials but maintained that the club will continue to advocate for systemic changes in the sport.
