CSKA Sofia eyes Nikolay Minkov to bolster defense
CSKA Sofia is considering signing free agent Nikolay Minkov to strengthen its defense. The 28-year-old Bulgarian national defender is currently training individually in Varna following a difficult split from Botev Plovdiv.
The club is looking for defensive reinforcements after the underwhelming performance of Brazilian defender Pastor. Pastor’s errors during a recent match in Crete contributed to a defeat that has jeopardized CSKA’s chances of advancing in the Europa League qualifying stages.
Minkov was previously considered by CSKA, but the club opted to sign Tamimu Waru at the time due to confidence in Pastor. However, with the club now seeking a buyer for Pastor, Minkov has re-emerged as a viable option. While clubs in Hungary, Greece, and Poland have shown interest, Minkov remains a free agent, potentially allowing CSKA to secure him without a transfer fee.
