CSKA Sofia legend analyzes Markus Gisdol appointment and new stadium

Former CSKA Sofia player and director Georgi Iliev, known as ‘Maikulata’, has provided an analysis regarding the club’s appointment of German specialist Markus Gisdol as the new head coach. Iliev revealed that Gisdol was brought to the club by Krasimir Balakov and his son, rather than being selected directly by club management.

Iliev expressed expectations for Gisdol to implement greater order, control, and organizational discipline within the team, noting the cultural differences in professional discipline. He also commented on the club’s infrastructure, highlighting the progress of the new ‘Bulgarian Army’ stadium, which he described as the best in Bulgaria. He anticipates that the transition to the new arena will facilitate smoother operations for the club.
