CSKA Sofia prepares for Europa League clash with Qarabağ in Baku
Bulgarian manager Georgi Nikolov, former founder of Inter Baku and long‑time observer of Azerbaijani football, said CSKA Sofia must display heroism in its upcoming Europa League first‑qualifying match against Qarabağ in Baku. He noted Qarabağ’s proven European pedigree and CSKA’s long absence from continental competition, stressing that the Bulgarian side will need extra effort and perhaps a bit of luck on the opponent’s home ground.
Qarabağ head coach Gurban Gurbanov replied that his team will be careful and responsible from the start, acknowledging recent squad changes and the need to adapt during the game. He emphasized that both sides have distinct styles and that his side will aim to execute its plan while remaining vigilant against the Bulgarian side’s preparations.
