CSKA Sofia files complaint against referee following match controversy

CSKA Sofia has filed an official complaint with the Bulgarian Football Union (BFU) Referee Commission following a controversial match against CSKA 1948 in Bistritsa. Despite winning the match 3-2, the club expressed extreme dissatisfaction with the officiating of head referee Lyuboslav Lyubomirov.

CSKA's sports director, Valentin Iliev, described the officiating as a “punitive action” against the team, claiming the club has repeatedly been forced to play against 14 men due to biased decisions. Specific grievances include a disputed goal for the opposition, two disallowed goals for CSKA, and a controversial second yellow card issued to Stefano Sensi in the 93rd minute.

The club has demanded that Lyubomirov be banned from officiating CSKA matches and has gone as far as calling for his permanent removal from professional football, citing a pattern of “fabricated” fouls and inconsistent decision-making.
