CSL shares rise 6% on announcement of next‑gen plasma manufacturing plan

CSL Ltd (ASX:CSL) saw its share price jump about 6% after the company announced plans for a new plasma manufacturing process. The initiative will test the effectiveness and safety of immunoglobulin made using the patented Horizon 2 technology, which is designed to boost yields from the same amount of plasma.

Clinical trials are slated to begin in mid‑2027, using material produced at CSL’s Broadmeadows facility in Australia. The trials will run alongside construction of the previously announced expansion of CSL’s Kanakee manufacturing plant in Illinois, USA. CSL has been engaging with the US FDA and the European Medicines Agency to secure regulatory approval for the new process. The company’s shares have fallen more than 50% over the past year but have risen over 30% since early June, reflecting renewed investor optimism.
