Gloria Bistrița and CSM București win Champions League openers

Romanian women's handball teams secured victories in their opening matches of the EHF Champions League season.

Gloria Bistrița won their away match against German side HSG Blomberg-Lippe with a score of 28-23. Leading 13-10 at halftime, the team maintained control throughout the second half. Danila So Delgado was the top scorer for Gloria with 7 goals, supported by Nina Engel and Helena Simao Paulo with 5 goals each. Goalkeeper Evelina Eriksson recorded 13 saves.

CSM București also achieved a successful debut in Group A, defeating Slovenia's RK Krim Ljubljana 37-29 in an away game. Despite trailing 17-19 at halftime, CSM improved their defensive performance in the second half to secure the win. Key contributors included Valeria Maslova with 7 goals and Matilda Sofia Forsberg with 6 goals.

Gloria Bistrița is scheduled to play Metz Handball on September 13, while CSM București will host Buducnost on September 12.
