Cēsu Pilsētas vidusskola reopens after major renovation

The renovated Cēsu Pilsētas vidusskola (Cēsis City Secondary School) has officially opened, providing a modern, safe, and energy-efficient environment for students and teachers. The comprehensive reconstruction included upgrading main engineering networks, ventilation, heating, electricity, and water supply systems, as well as renovating kitchen facilities and interior finishes.

The project, titled ‘Increasing the Energy Efficiency of Cēsu Pilsētas vidusskola’, was co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund and the Cēsis Municipality. The initial project funding totaled 3.5 million euros, with over 2 million euros provided by the EU and 1.4 million euros by the municipality. Due to the discovery of a need for more extensive construction work to ensure safe and high-quality learning conditions, the municipality took an additional loan of nearly 3 million euros from the State Treasury.

While younger students (grades 1–6) began using the renovated spaces in January, older students (grades 7–12) had been studying in a different building. With the completion of this project, all students can now be accommodated in a single location.
