Côte d'Ivoire advances economic development through industry and tech initiatives
Côte d'Ivoire is implementing several strategic initiatives to drive economic growth and industrialization. The government and the National Federation of Shea of Côte d'Ivoire (FENKACI) are preparing the first National Shea Salon (SNKA), scheduled for October 13-14, 2026, in Abidjan. The event aims to structure the shea sector, promote local transformation, and empower women who rely on the industry for income.
In terms of broader economic planning, the National Development Plan (PND) 2026-2030 targets an annual growth rate of 7.2%. This plan relies heavily on private investment, which is expected to provide over 70% of the total 114,838.5 billion CFA francs required. The World Bank has expressed its commitment to supporting these priorities, including health, energy, and youth programs, with a portfolio valued at $6.3 billion for the 2025-2026 period.
Additionally, the technology sector is being positioned as a driver for employment and industrialization through the upcoming second edition of the Ivoire Tech Forum, set for November 2026. The forum will focus on emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence and green energy to foster innovation and connect startups with international investors.
