Côte d’Ivoire and Mali agree on definitive border trace

Côte d’Ivoire and Mali have reached a consensus on the definitive tracing of their shared border. Following technical work and a joint mission to the Pogo-Zégoua area, experts from both nations have validated the border line.

The agreement includes a draft treaty for delimitation and a technical framework for future demarcation. While delimitation establishes the legal boundary, the next phase will involve physical demarcation, which includes the installation of boundary markers on the ground.

This clarification aims to improve territorial administration, reduce potential disputes, and enhance cooperation between local and national authorities. The defined border is expected to facilitate the movement of people and goods, as well as regional security and cross-border trade.
