Côte d'Ivoire and Tunisia Governments Tackle Rising Prices

In Côte d'Ivoire, Transport and Maritime Affairs Minister Amadou Koné met with transport operators and consumer groups on 3 August 2026. He said the recent fuel price increase reflects a global energy crisis and noted that the President has introduced a state‑funded adjustment mechanism to keep pump prices affordable. Koné pledged continued dialogue on issues such as illegal checkpoints, excessive local taxes and other sector concerns.

In Tunisia, Commerce and Export Development Minister Samir Abid chaired a remote meeting of regional directors on 4 August 2026. He urged heightened monitoring of market indicators and stressed the importance of stockpiling essential goods—water, poultry, potatoes and mineral water—to safeguard supply and maintain purchasing power. Abid called for stronger coordination between central, regional and local authorities to pre‑empt price pressures during peak periods such as holidays and school openings.
