Côte d'Ivoire attracts investment in energy and mining sectors

Côte d'Ivoire is emerging as a significant destination for international investment, particularly from the United States. According to the U.S. Department of State's 2026 report on the business climate, the country offers strong opportunities for American exporters and investors due to its economic dynamism. The Ivorian economy has maintained an average GDP growth of 6.4% over the last decade, reaching 6.5% in 2024.

Key sectors for potential growth include energy, mining, and infrastructure. The national development plan for 2026-2030 targets approximately $206 billion in investments, with over 70% expected to come from the private sector.

In the mining sector, the development of the Boundiali gold mine by Australian company Aurum Resources is expected to create 4,200 direct and indirect jobs during its construction phase, which is slated to begin in late 2026. Once operational in 2028, the mine is projected to provide 2,200 permanent jobs. The project currently holds 3.22 million ounces of mineral resources and aims to produce 1.5 million ounces over an 11-year period.
