Côte d'Ivoire adopts 2027 budget and mango recovery plan
The Ivorian government has adopted its 2027 budget, projected at 18,466.1 billion FCFA, representing a 6.4% increase from 2026. Key provisions include 100 billion FCFA to launch a sovereign wealth fund and 70 billion FCFA for studies related to the 2026-2030 National Development Plan. The budget is based on an expected GDP growth of 6.6%.
Simultaneously, the country is addressing a crisis in its mango sector following a suspension of exports to the European Union due to fruit fly infestations. To regain market access by the 2027 season, the government is mobilizing 3.5 billion FCFA for pest control, including the deployment of over three million traps across 20,000 hectares.
New measures to restore European confidence include the creation of a national monitoring unit, stricter traceability requirements, and the exclusion of non-compliant exporters and processing stations. The EU market is vital to the industry, accounting for approximately 66% of total export earnings in 2025.
