Côte d’Ivoire launches Operation Épervier 12 to combat crime
Authorities in Côte d’Ivoire have launched the twelfth edition of Operation Épervier, a nationwide security initiative aimed at intensifying the fight against crime and ensuring public order. Officially inaugurated in Bouaké and deployed simultaneously across the country, including in Abidjan and Abengourou, the operation involves the Police, Gendarmerie, Armed Forces of Côte d’Ivoire (FACI), and the CCDO.
The mission targets several criminal activities, including armed gangs, drug trafficking, human trafficking, and the destruction of drug dens. Authorities also intend to address urban disorder, illegal road stations, and the smuggling of agricultural products to neighboring countries. The operation seeks to maintain public tranquility ahead of the school year and end-of-year festivities.
Law enforcement officials have emphasized the importance of community cooperation, urging citizens to provide anonymous information to enhance effectiveness. During the previous security phase, authorities reported significant results, including the seizure of over 774 kg of cannabis and nearly 19 tons of falsified medicines.
