Côte d’Ivoire launches 12‑month agro‑forest plan in Goin‑Débé with 300 bn FCFA investment

The Côte d’Ivoire government officially opened a 12‑month development plan for the Goin‑Débé agro‑forest in Guiglo on 1 August 2026. The project, overseen by PALMCI SARL under the direction of its secretary‑general Ben Nabéléfiné Coulibaly, will first map and census the 133 000 ha forest and the surrounding villages to identify land for oil‑palm plantations, reforestation and community use. The state has granted PALMCI a concession covering 113 000 ha, while the remaining 20 000 ha were returned to local populations in 2021. An investment of 300 billion FCFA is earmarked for the initiative, which aims to create roughly 40 000 jobs for local youth and to encourage village‑level oil‑palm cultivation alongside industrial plantations. The plan also includes engagement with prefectural authorities and traditional chiefs to ensure the project aligns with local needs.
