Côte d'Ivoire National Assembly adopts AI to modernize legislative work

Patrick Achi, President of the National Assembly of Côte d'Ivoire, is promoting the integration of artificial intelligence to modernize parliamentary work. During a training session held on October 12, 2026, Achi emphasized that AI can serve as a tool to assist deputies in analyzing dossiers, comparing international experiences, and examining budgets.

While acknowledging the technology's ability to structure information and process data, Achi stressed that AI must not replace the responsibility of elected officials. He noted that while tools can research and calculate, they cannot vote or represent the voices of constituents.

This initiative aligns with Côte d'Ivoire's national digital transformation strategy. Djibril Ouattara, Minister of Digital Transition and Technological Innovation, highlighted a 2026-2028 roadmap featuring 440 projects focused on connectivity, administrative modernization, and cybersecurity. The ministry aims to develop AI that is specifically adapted to national realities and based on local data mastery.
