Côte d’Ivoire regulator introduces new rubber industry commercial rules
The Conseil Hévéa-Palmier à huile-Coco (CHPC) has introduced new regulatory measures to adjust commercial relations within Côte d’Ivoire’s natural rubber sector. These changes aim to rebalance economic conditions between producers, collectors, and industrial processors.
A key component of the new framework is a rebate of 10 FCFA per kilogram of rubber delivered to factory weighbridges. This incentive is specifically reserved for agricultural cooperatives included on an official list established by the regulator at the start of the campaign. The measure is designed to encourage collective marketing and provide additional revenue for large-scale organizations with sufficient logistical capacity.
However, the regulation creates a distinction in delivery methods: volumes transported to advanced weighbridges are not eligible for this rebate. This distinction may influence commercial decisions for cooperatives, who must weigh the rebate against transport costs and infrastructure proximity.
