Côte d'Ivoire seeks ITU Council seat at Bahamas forum

Côte d'Ivoire is campaigning for a seat on the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Council. A national delegation, led by the Minister of Digital Transition and Technological Innovation, Djibril Ouattara, will participate in the World Telecommunication Policy Forum (WTPF-26) held in Nassau, Bahamas, from September 2 to 4, 2026.

The candidacy aims to increase the country's influence in international digital governance and telecommunications decision-making. Côte d'Ivoire's platform focuses on several key priorities, including digital inclusion, technological innovation, expanding ICT access for youth, and reducing the digital divide. The move is part of a broader regional effort by West African economies to strengthen their presence in global digital policy discussions.
