Côte-d’Or forest fire risk returns to normal level

The prefecture of Côte-d’Or has announced that all eight forest massifs in the department have returned to a ‘normal risk’ level for forest fires. This decision follows an assessment by the forest fire vigilance committee, which analyzed various indicators including weather evolution, vegetation and soil dryness, wind and precipitation forecasts, and potential fire propagation risks.

As a result of this improved situation, restrictions and prohibitions that were previously in effect for four sectors—Auxois, Seuil bourguignon and Montagne Sud, Montagne Nord, and the Morvan—have been lifted. The decision was made based on data provided by Météo-France, the SDIS, the Office national des forêts (ONF), and the Direction départementale des territoires (DDT).

Despite the reduction in alert levels, authorities have issued a reminder that the danger has not entirely disappeared and have called for continued public vigilance.
