Côte-Nord advocates for seniors to age with dignity

To mark the International Day of Older Persons on October 1, the Table régionale de concertation des aînés de la Côte-Nord is highlighting the theme “Aging with dignity, a societal project.” The organization emphasizes that well-aging is a collective responsibility requiring access to affordable and adapted housing, accessible healthcare, sufficient income, and the ability to remain within one's community.

In the Côte-Nord region, challenges such as vast distances, isolation, and varying access to transportation and services create unique difficulties for seniors. Micheline Anctil, president of the regional table, noted that seniors have contributed significantly to building the region and deserve recognition of their ongoing value to families and communities. The observance includes local activities such as the Salon des aînés de la Haute-Côte-Nord.
