CTERA warns of 72% real cut in education funding for 2027

The teachers' union CTERA has warned of a 72% real reduction in funding for programs under the Secretariat of Education in the 2027 Budget project compared to 2023 levels. The union's analysis, which accounts for inflation, suggests that the proposal deepens the defunding of public education that began in late 2023.

CTERA is demanding increased resources for school infrastructure, equipment, technical education, teacher training, scholarships, and digital inclusion policies. Additionally, the union is calling for the restitution of the National Teacher Incentive Fund (FONID), a salary component funded by the national government and transferred to provinces.
