Cătălin Avramescu: DIICOT closes investigation into child pornography allegations

DIICOT has closed the investigation against former presidential advisor and ambassador Cătălin Avramescu. The case, which involved allegations of child pornography, was dismissed via a closure order.

Avramescu described the investigation as “absurd,” claiming it was an attempt to silence him. He reported that his home was searched at 6:00 AM by five masked, armed individuals and that his electronic communications were intercepted for a month. He also noted that his devices, including a laptop containing confidential messages with the President of Romania and military archive documents, were held for a month and a half.

According to Avramescu, the investigation originated from two text messages exchanged with the mother of his three-year-old daughter regarding soiled diapers. He criticized the institution's priorities, questioning why resources were used on such matters while other criminal activities persist in the country.
