Cătălin Scărlătescu to build new Danube Delta home with architect partner

Chef Cătălin Scărlătescu, known for his role on MasterChef Romania, has announced plans to build a new vacation home in the Danube Delta. Following the demolition of an older residence at the site, the project will be managed by his partner of approximately one and a half years, Elena Gogean.

Gogean is a professional architect and a teacher at the Ion Mincu University of Architecture and Urbanism in Bucharest. While Scărlătescu initially intended to hire a specialized construction firm, he has decided to let Gogean handle the design and planning.

Scărlătescu noted that while he does not wish to make an excessive investment for a home he will only use for about a month and a half each year, the budget has increased slightly to ensure the house is aesthetically pleasing. He described his financial situation as having a ‘normal budget’ rather than seeking to build a ‘fortress’.
