CTM and Business Leaders Urge IMSS to Build New Hospital in Guanajuato

The Confederación de Trabajadores de México (CTM) and representatives of Guanajuato’s business community met with IMSS director general Zoé Robledo Aburto at the institute’s Technical Council headquarters, urging the start of the institutional process to construct a new IMSS hospital in the state.

They point to rapid industrial, labor and demographic growth—especially in the León‑Silao‑Irapuato‑Salamanca‑Celaya corridor—that has increased the insured population and put pressure on existing clinics. The planned hospital in Guanajuato’s capital will add more beds, specialties, operating rooms and emergency services, but the groups argue it will not be sufficient on its own. Under Robledo’s administration IMSS has opened 31 hospitals and is advancing 20 new medical units.
