CTP Iași issues safety warning for public transport passengers
The Iași Public Transport Company (CTP Iași) has issued a safety warning to passengers regarding their proximity to buses at stations. Officials emphasize that standing too close to the curb can lead to accidents, particularly when buses are maneuvering into stops or turning.
Driver Marius Dăscălescu noted that side mirrors can extend beyond the vehicle's main body, creating a risk for those standing within 20-30 centimeters of the edge. Additionally, when a bus pulls into a station or begins to turn, the rear of the vehicle may swing closer to waiting passengers.
Director Cristian Stoica stated that passengers should maintain a distance of at least half a meter from the curb. This space allows the driver to pull the wheels close to the curb safely, which facilitates easier boarding and exiting, especially for individuals with disabilities.
