Colombia, Argentina and Chile seize large cocaine shipments in simultaneous operations

Police in several South American countries carried out major drug‑related operations this week. In Colombia, the Army’s anti‑narcotics command, together with the Air Force, the National Police and the FBI, dismantled a cocalero complex in Nariño, seizing 32,580 gallons of cocaine in production, 1,800 kg of finished product and 2,500 kg of processing chemicals, disrupting a group that could produce four tonnes a month.

In Chile, a specially adapted truck was intercepted in the Tarapacá region, leading to the seizure of about 195 kg of cocaine, base paste and ketamine, the largest haul recorded in the region for 2026. Argentine authorities also reported several seizures: a drone‑assisted raid in Tigre captured a street dealer with cocaine, a raid in Laguna Paiva seized 42 cocaine wraps and arrested three people, and a preventive patrol in La Banda intercepted a 17‑year‑old with 30 small cocaine packages and cash. In Uruguay, Operation Interconexión resulted in twelve simultaneous raids, eight arrests and the conviction of six individuals for drug trafficking.

Separately, Mexican police in Cuatro Ciénegas seized nearly three kilograms of crystal meth during a raid. These coordinated actions underline a regional crackdown on narcotrafficking networks.
