Cuauhtémoc Medina appointed curator for 25th Bienal de Arte Paiz

Mexican critic, curator, and historian Cuauhtémoc Medina has been appointed to curate the 25th edition of the Bienal de Arte Paiz in Guatemala. The event is scheduled to take place from November 2027 to February 2028, with exhibitions held in both Antigua and Guatemala City.

This milestone edition coincides with the 50th anniversary of the organizing body, Fundación Paiz. As the sixth-oldest biennial globally and the second-oldest in Latin America, the event marks a significant moment for the institution.

Medina brings extensive international experience to the role, having previously served as the chief curator at Mexico City’s Museo Universitario Arte Contemporáneo (MUAC) and as the head curator for Manifesta 9 in Belgium. His career includes roles at Tate Modern and the Shanghai Biennale, and he is a researcher at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM).
