Cuauhtémoc officials launch mobile unit to combat gender violence

In Mexico, new initiatives have been launched to combat gender-based violence. In the Cuauhtémoc borough of Mexico City, Mayor Alessandra Rojo de la Vega launched the Reacción Violeta mobile unit. Donated by Kia México, the vehicle is part of the Brigada Violeta, which utilizes lawyers and psychologists to provide direct assistance to women in the field.

Mayor Rojo de la Vega reported that the Reacción Violeta strategy has provided over 5,000 services during her administration, resulting in the judicialization of 130 investigation files and the imprisonment of more than 30 aggressors.

Separately, in Cuautla, activist Yndira Sandoval Sánchez introduced ‘Red Violeta’, a community-based prevention plan. The methodology focuses on identifying risk factors through community mapping, the use of ‘witness silhouettes’ to monitor violent behavior, and the establishment of ‘Ally Spaces’ in local businesses to assist women in danger.
