Cuautitlán diocese claims Virgin of Guadalupe apparition site

The Diocese of Cuautitlán is gathering testimonies and evidence to support the claim that the fifth apparition of the Virgin of Guadalupe occurred in El Cerrito, Cuautitlán, rather than in Ecatepec.

Priest Alejandro Torres López stated that the diocese possesses living testimonies from descendants of San Juan Diego, specifically from the Guillón and Fragoso families of Santa María Calyacac. He noted that the location holds the houses of Juan Bernardino and San Juan Diego, as well as remains that serve as evidence of the site.

Additionally, local clergy claim the first miracle of the Virgin Mary—the healing of San Juan Diego’s uncle—took place in this location. Preparations are underway for the 500th anniversary of the 1531 events, with an upcoming meeting scheduled for October 14–16 expected to draw participation from approximately 70 dioceses across Mexico.
