Cuautitlán Izcalli pyrotechnics explosion kills teenager

A pyrotechnics explosion during a religious procession in San Francisco Tepojaco, Cuautitlán Izcalli, has resulted in the death of a 15-year-old boy and left several others injured. The incident occurred on Aldama Street during festivities for the patron saint San Francisco de Asís, when fireworks being transported in a private vehicle ignited during the procession.

Emergency services from Cuautitlán Izcalli, Tepotzotlán, and Nicolás Romero responded to the scene. Ten people were reported injured, including eight minors and two adults. Some of the most seriously injured individuals were transported to the Hospital de Traumatología y Ortopedia in Lomas Verdes, Naucalpan. One adult male was reported deceased following treatment at an IMSS hospital.

The Fundación Michou y Mau para Niños Quemados has activated its emergency protocol to provide specialized guidance and assistance to the affected children and adolescents. The municipal government noted that the procession was not included in the official permits for the San Francisco delegation.
