Cuautla waste collectors report illegal dumping in ravines

In Cuautla, Morelos, Esther Vidal Huerta, a representative for the guild of waste collectors and recyclers, has reported the illegal operation of approximately 40 unregulated collection vehicles.

Vidal Huerta stated that these operators bypass environmental and municipal regulations to avoid paying fees for final waste disposal at sanitary landfills. Instead, some operators are reportedly dumping waste into local ravines.

She has called upon municipal and environmental authorities to intervene, regularize the collector registry, and increase supervision of waste destinations to prevent unfair competition and protect the livelihoods of formal collectors.
