Cuba and Gaza face severe civilian hardship amid international crises

As the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly approaches, concerns are rising regarding civilian suffering in Cuba and Gaza. In Gaza, thousands of children have been killed amid ongoing conflict involving Israel and U.S. support.

In Cuba, the population faces a profound economic crisis characterized by fuel scarcity, medicine shortages, and frequent blackouts. Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla recently presented a report detailing the damage caused by the U.S. blockade between March 2025 and February 2026. The report highlights that many families are surviving on as little as two to three hours of electricity per day, impacting essential activities such as education, healthcare, and food preservation.
