Cuba and Russia highlight cultural ties through art and cinema

Cultural exchanges between Cuba and Russia are highlighted through recent cinematic and artistic showcases. In Moscow, the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts is hosting ‘Cuban Poster. 1950-1970. Cinema and Revolution’, the first exhibition of its kind in Russia. The display features over 140 political, advertising, and cultural posters created via serigraphy, coinciding with the centenary of Fidel Castro's birth. The collection includes works recognized by UNESCO as part of the Memory of the World program.

Simultaneously, a week of Russian cinema in Havana has introduced contemporary Russian films to Cuban audiences. Featured titles include ‘The Desire of the Fish’ (2023), a modern fairy tale set against a backdrop of social differences, and ‘I Make the Step’ (2023), a drama exploring dyslexia and social realities in contemporary Russia.
