Cuba anticipates 2020 MW power shortfall during peak night demand

Cuba's state electricity operator Unión Eléctrica reported that on the previous day a generation deficit affected the grid throughout the 24‑hour period, with the maximum shortfall of 1,775 MW recorded at 21:50. Solar output from 54 new photovoltaic parks contributed 5,245 MWh, peaking at 642 MW during the mid‑day period. Thermal generation faced limitations of 400 MW, and several units were either out of service or under maintenance. For the highest‑demand interval, available capacity is projected at 1,155 MW against a projected demand of 3,150 MW, resulting in an estimated deficit of 1,990 MW and a forecasted shortfall of about 2,020 MW at the peak night hour.
