Cuba awards medals to internationalist workers and community organizers

Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel has presided over ceremonies to award various state decorations to citizens for their service and community contributions.

Under Presidential Decree 1289, ten workers from the National Union of Education, Science and Sports Workers (SNTECD) were granted the “Internationalist Worker” Medal. This honor is designated for Cuban citizens who complete international missions lasting at least six to twelve months in sectors such as health, education, science, and technology. The recipients include individuals from the provinces of Havana and Cienfuegos.

Additionally, in celebration of the 66th anniversary of the Committees for the Defense of the Revolution (CDR), Díaz-Canel led a ceremony recognizing local community organizers. The “28 de Septiembre” distinction, the highest honor within the CDR, was presented to 11 individuals and two labor collectives. Nearly two hundred other entities and actors received medals for neighborhood defense and unity.
