Cuba celebrates Agricultural Workers Day
Agricultural workers in Cuba celebrated their professional day on October 3 with various activities focused on food production, including agriculture, livestock, and the use of biological fertilizers and pesticides.
In Las Tunas, celebrations were held in the municipality of Amancio. Luis Manuel Peralta Agüero, a delegate for the Ministry of Agriculture, emphasized that the sector remains a vital pillar for national development and food sovereignty. Despite economic and energy challenges, the region is working toward increasing the production of grains, vegetables, and fruits, including a cold-season planting campaign targeting 2,555 hectares.
In Pinar del Río, the national commemoration was hosted by the Grain Agro-industrial Enterprise in Los Palacios. Local union representatives highlighted the importance of sustainable practices, such as soil leveling for rice cultivation to optimize water use, and the integration of scientific methods to improve efficiency and environmental management.
