Cuba claims US is pressuring nations to isolate the island

Deputy foreign minister Carlos Fernandez de Cosio said the United States is urging governments worldwide to terminate bilateral health‑care programmes with Cuba, cutting access to community health services.

He added that Washington is pressuring other states to refuse discussion of Cuba at the United Nations and to comply with U.S. fuel‑export sanctions. Cuba says the sanctions cause daily blackouts, transport shortages and hamper economic activity. The island relies heavily on fuel imports and has received only one Russian tanker carrying about 100,000 tonnes of crude in the past six months, far short of the eight fuel tankers it needs each month.

In a separate remark, U.S. President Donald Trump, speaking at the opening of the Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library in North Dakota, suggested Cuba is “coming our way” after decades, without detailing any concrete policy change.
