Cuba commemorates July 26 National Rebellion with community projects, cultural events and solidarity marches

Across Cuba, the 73rd anniversary of the July 26 attacks on the Moncada and Carlos Manuel de Céspedes barracks was marked by a series of community and cultural initiatives. In Manzanillo, volunteers refreshed public spaces, painted buildings and repaired the diesel power plant that supports the regional grid. In Cienfuegos, authorities repaired hospital infrastructure, refreshed the façade of a historic cinema and organized an evening of music and poetry under the theme “Perla del Sur, corazón del 26”. In Bayamo, a youth network launched seven local projects ranging from garden restoration to support for vulnerable families. Meanwhile, in Madrid, solidarity groups staged a march demanding an end to the U.S. embargo, urging “Cuba needs energy”. The events combined practical improvements with artistic tributes, reinforcing the revolutionary narrative while highlighting ongoing economic challenges.
