Cuba conducts national defense and combat readiness exercises
Cuba has conducted various national defense exercises across different regions to demonstrate combat readiness and civil protection capabilities.
In the Isla de la Juventud, residents and local defense councils participated in practical drills, including fire protection exercises at the Oro Negro service station and mass casualty reception simulations at the Juan Manuel Páez Inchausti polyclinic. Additionally, production and defense brigades conducted ambush simulations near the El Abra farm museum to practice delaying potential enemy advances.
In the Sancti Spíritus Military Region, the second semester of the 2026 defense preparation year commenced at the Special Troops Battalion camp. The exercises involved regular troops, students from the Camilo Cienfuegos Military School, and Production and Defense Brigades. Officials emphasized the importance of maintaining high combat morale, caring for military equipment, and integrating agro-food production tasks with defense readiness.
