Cuba conducts nationwide strategic exercises for National Defense Day
Cuba is conducting nationwide strategic exercises and drills to mark National Defense Day. The initiative aims to strengthen the country's defensive capabilities by preparing leadership organs, troops, and the civilian population for exceptional situations or aggression.
In Havana, President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez visited the Colón-Nuevo Vedado Defense Zone to inspect the combat readiness and cohesion of command and direction bodies. He was accompanied by high-ranking officials, including the President of the National Assembly of People's Power and ministers from the Revolutionary Armed Forces and the Ministry of the Interior.
In the Habana del Este municipality, Vice President Salvador Valdés Mesa and Prime Minister Manuel Marrero Cruz visited the Camilo Cienfuegos Defense Zone. This area, home to approximately 8,800 residents, focuses on strengthening 23 production and defense brigades. During the visit, officials emphasized the importance of food production through urban agriculture and the transition to renewable energy sources to ensure social and economic security during emergencies.
